Because of low wage offered most hired employees are only sub par applicants who aren't qualified or are regularly insufficient in their duties. Most acceptable applicants don't even show up for the hiring interview because they quickly find a better paying position at a competitor.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
At least offer a competitive wage. Minimum wage has gone up every year for 5 years straight yet hasn't adjusted existing employee wages according to those cost of living increases. New hires get one at a higher wage while existing loyal employees wages remain stagnant and are ignored.
