How much and how often do raises happen at Dell Technologies?
Yearly. Typically 2% raise. However, I know of people that were underpaid for years, that eventually received a 10% raise. 10% is super rare.

They are changing the layouts. It varies across locations and buildings.
Huge floor of cubicles constantly shrinking to fit more people, but doesn't get near of being uncomfortable.
If you work in Santa Clara it's an open environment like Google.
Is it cool if i vape in the office?
Although its against company policy, it doesn't prohibit or control employees of going outside the site to do it and get back.

On paper? No, it is against company policy. In reality? The practice is pervasive.
are there opportunities for advancement?
Absolutely! I have personally experienced advancement and more importantly opportunity (and visibility to senior leadership) over my years with Dell. I have seen a number of HR professionals 'make their career' with the company. It can be demanding and visibility comes with responsibility but it is a great place to learn, grow and develop!

My team is amazing they get it done on time. Never have to ask about the report

Depends. Sometimes quickly and sometimes never. A lot depends on if the budget is approved for the hire.
In my experience, it takes between 2 - 4 weeks. It really depends on the HR person and how urgent the situation is.

People have done it, but it doesn't happen often.
Depends on the location. At the mothership it's good. At the satellite offices, not so much.

Not really. It's mostly marketing noise. They acquire ideas with cash rather home grown.
In the server space, very innovative. In other aspects of the data center portfolio, Dell has much more success in acquisition than actual in-house development.

Through customer surveys. An outsourced group of poor English speakers ask rapid fire questions that are apparently designed to intimidate and confuse customers handle the surveys

As a new university hire, I have a lot of job security.
It depends where you work. Dell uses workforce reduction quite frequently.
What do you look for in a new hire? is it hard to recruit someone good?
Attitude. I would rather train someone lacking in skills than suffer through an employee with a poor attitude.

That does happen. But it is totally up to the employee, and several make it a point never to eat at their desk.

Great work life balance in most roles, though some folks claim to be over worked. No complaints personally.
90% of my work time is at the office. But my boss was also explicitly clear that I am to keep current with email at all hours of the week.
