If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Dell Technologies?
Top Employee Response
Hired older mature employees along with new grads. This will make for a good mix as they can learn from Each other.
Make internal services (IT and HR) competent and more responsive.
Dell has a good culture - people are driven and work hard. Sometimes, this aspects creates a toxic environment where no one has work-life balance. Work goes with you wherever you go, leading to burn out. Managers and well as individuals need to create healthier boundaries about when it's OK not to work. Top down, there is opportunity to rethink what is priority and what can wait until the next morning so that people aren't working until 2 am finishing a request for the next morning.
What sorts of people succeed at the company?
Top Employee Response
Sociopaths who know how to protect their teams and turf. Employee numbers are declining, so morale is very low.
The type of people who don't question their superiors decisions because they're afraid doing so will reflect negatively on their career. Sheeple. Lot's of sheeple in management.
People who deal well with corporativism, knows how to sell their work (what they call 'showing value') and when your position and behavior reflects what upper management expect.

Couldn't tell you I've only been in a Dell office 4 times in the last 5 years. I support customers at their locations.
Cool and relaxed of course if you’re in sales it can get stressful at times especially close to the end of the quarter.
Friendly, I work at remote sites though only rarely visiting and office.

Depends where you're located
Great place, great culture.
Depending on which segment you're in, the culture is either miserable or mildly bearable. Good work from home program but lots of KPIs. Managers manage spreadsheets and are not 'leaders' despite what they think amongst themselves. If you enjoy daily change, you'd enjoy it.

Standard benefits apply. Cost of health insurance is similar to what other large companies provide. Bonus structure has changed significantly since the Dell acquisition, so I'm not sure of the details.

Yes. Use Glassdoor to anchor and communicate your value of why you deserve more.
Yes. Try to learn the position's range before you begin.
Initially done by headhunter, raises have come based upon time in conjunction with performance.
Would you describe the general attitude of the people you work with as positive or negative? Why?
Positive. We do great work and have fun doing it.
In general positive with a little skepticism. People are more optimistic about Dell's future even if it is a competitive battle of lesser profits.
Right now it is negative - ever since the EMC acquisition our group isn't nearly as important, and we are treated accordingly.

Living up to their espoused ideals.
any politics that go on in the office?
Top Employee Response
No more than the politics observed anywhere else. If you own your career, there are plenty of people willing to help out. Politics will not get in the way of the quality of your Dell employee experience.
I have been working with Dell for more than 6 years now and I have given so much to it. My 100%. I was good at delivering numbers. Punctual. And hardly took leaves. But one day when I asked about my growth, it hurt my manager's ego and she ensured that my I didn't clear any IJPs I had applied for went to the extent of dumping me to another department. On top of it she ensured my wedding leave remained unapproved. Till the time, you suck upto to your manager, it's all good in the hood. Once you start questioning them about your growth, you tend to become a pain to them in the wrong place. Low level, obnoxious politics.
We Have a pleasant Environment where everyone is able to discuss what they feel.

Their future vision for the company. The company brings together a full solution for it's customers.

Long Term thought
How's the morale at Dell Technologies?
low morale
Dell is huge, so I am sure this would differ per division/group/etc... In my group, the answer would be low to non-existent as exemplified by the dozen+ resignations this past year.
Dell has a great culture that helps drive a great morale. Happy people make for a happy place to work
How's the work life balance at Dell Technologies?
Mine is poor at the moment. Sometimes we all have to pay our dues to succeed. It is being addressed though.
Pretty good. I don't get called when I'm not there.
Its very good. Lot of options to flex
How secure do you feel at your job at Dell Technologies?
If you work and are quite and not projecting enough you will be first to go.
I don't. We have too many in my role, but there is no plan to correct. Layoffs are coming, and the morale reflects it.
Overall very secure. In tech you can't avoid wfrs, with that exception unless you really screw up you have a job. Even when I've seen people let go they were very fair about it.
