Overall it's fantastic. I love my coworkers, the leadership team, the compensation, the (somewhat) flexible schedule and the challenging work I get to do. It can be stressful, but in a positive way. I'd much rather have the stress of solving difficult problems than feel like my work means nothing.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
My ideas are respected by all levels of leadership. Egos are left at the door, and I feel that this ship is run as a true meritocracy.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
My base pay is very competitive. Given the hard work of all of my colleagues (and me), I think the stock options will be quite valuable in the future as well.
What makes you most happy at work?
The freedom to share which projects I think would be most beneficial to the company's success. If we all agree, I have the agency to reach out to other teams and start working toward bringing that project to life. It's very rewarding.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone on my team is passionate about what they do. A simple "what are you working on?" to anyone around me will result in an excited rant about the engineering challenge they're facing and their innovative solution. We collaborate constantly, share ideas across disciplines and enjoy doing it.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Many things, but probably how comfortable I feel asking for help. On the software team there is a wealth of experience and knowledge with each person having depth in subjects that others do not. If there's something I want to learn, there's almost always someone excited to teach me and vice versa.
