Our CEO, Kumsal, comes across as very empathetic and kind and doesn't shy from tough questions at TownHalls and AMAs.

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

The best part is the overall balance of competitive pay, benefits, and employee-focused support. It gives me a sense of financial stability while making me feel valued and appreciated for my contribution.

Review from Design Dept · Posted 22 days ago

The insurance and compensation is what benefits me the most.

Review from Design Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

I know I am paid less for the same job as some of my peers in the same grade as me, and that is never a happy place to be. Promotions in-post are extremely hard to get, "progression" isn't a clear or understandable path. End-of-year reviews feel like dark magic and not necessarily reward good work.

Review from Design Dept · Posted 21 days ago

Currently I am paid the equivalent of a non-graduate worker while higher education is required for my position. The yearly salary increase does not align with inflation. We are growing and meeting expectations, but there are no bonuses and the talks about improving salary are not satisfactory.

Review from Design Dept · Posted 22 days ago

What would make me feel better about my compensation is alignment between my contributions, market benchmarks for similar roles, and internal equity. A compensation adjustment that reflects my performance, expanded responsibilities, and the value I bring to the team would go a long way.

Review from Design Dept

I would like to be able to buy two weeks of holiday instead of only 1 as my previous employer allowed this. I also think I am not paid as much as I would be at other companies.

Review from Design Dept

I don't think my compensation is quite in lone with the market. Also I would like the opportunity to buy 10 days holiday rather than only 5 as my previous employer had this. I also think probation is too long and benefits are too restricted during this time.

My immediate team is kind, supportive and respectful. People are motivated to build together and learn from each other instead of competing. (I'm not sure that applied to all team in Elsevier in general, though)

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

Open up development/ career opportunity for those who are loyal, eager and willing to develop internally, the creation of new role if necessary and proven. In contrast I see employees get promoted way too soon because the turn over is high.
