HAYES BARNARD is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Loanpal, the world-positive lender that focuses on financing residential clean energy solutions. Hayes is also the Founder, Chairman and CEO of GivePower, a nonprofit organization that provides solar-based solutions to power life’s basic needs for people in developing regions of the world.
Prior to founding Loanpal, Hayes led Paramount Solar, an early-stage residential solar company and the first company to leverage centralized sales centers to provide solar systems to homeowners. This new model enabled the company to quickly garner significant market share, as well as the attention of SolarCity, which acquired Paramount Solar in 2013. After spending three years with SolarCity as Chief Revenue Officer and growing its business 400 percent, Hayes returned to his entrepreneurial roots and created Loanpal.??
In 2014, Hayes founded the GivePower Foundation, a non-profit that has provided access to electricity to more than 300,000 people in 17 countries, installed solar for light in 2,650 schools, and powered ranger stations throughout Virunga National Park and Sarara, Kenya that help protect endangered wildlife. Most recently, GivePower constructed a solar-powered water desalination system to deliver up to 70,000 liters of clean, healthy water to villagers in rural Kenya every day.??
Hayes lives in Tiburon, California with his wife and three children. He works in San Francisco and is an avid snowboarder, mountain biker, and lover of all things outdoors.
