What perk or benefit should Kaiser Permanente have?
Equal opportunities
Some departments allow more working from home than others. Standardize it. Some people want to work from home every day, others never. Just let them do what they want. Because the company is so big you're never in a situation where EVERYONE in your entire team is in the same office, so just let people work from home if they prefer it...
What are the most important soft skills I need to be successful at Kaiser Permanente?
Know the right people, show up, don't ask questions
Know the working style of everyone above you before you start the job. Don't assume the working style is transferable from one area of the company to the next. This has ended careers.
What's the pay like for Marketing roles at Kaiser Permanente?
Competitive
uneven. After "calibrations" you can discover your peers were making much much more (we're talking 5 figures) than you for the same work in the same role with the same managers.
How often do promotions happen at Kaiser Permanente?
Rapidly if leaders like you personally, never if they don't.
As often as you deserve one.
What's the internship program like at Kaiser Permanente?
Well-paying. Interns are treated fairly well, they're looked at just like any other employee while they're here. But, they're also usually picked from top schools. Getting an internship sounds tougher than getting a contract or full-time job since there are only a few internships each year, but regular positions are always opening up.
The summer internships are most often awarded to disadvanted students.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at Kaiser Permanente?
Positive. But I ended up getting hired... someone who didn't probably would have a different answer ;)
Somewhat typical, slightly less rigorous.
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at Kaiser Permanente?
Probably a quiz on terms associated with the work. I knew from experience, but some interview questions would be hard to fake your way through. In general, everyone at the company knows what they're talking about - there's no nepotism or hiring friends.
The most difficult interview question(s) asked during an interview for a lateral transfer within the company (which I did not ultimately take) was about the things I dislike most about my current role and my current boss, shortly following the standard strengths and weaknesses question as well as what peers would say as areas of weakness. I didn't mind the questions themselves as a tool to identify if the new role and team would be a good fit, but having several questions in a row with a negative focus set a tone/theme for the whole interview. Overall I think that the interview style at this company is fairly balanced and effective. Having conducted interviews in my role on my current team, I can attest to the theme and underlying motivation of truly using questions to determine fit and comparability with group culture rather than seeking to surprise an interviewee with "gotcha" questions.
