Work/life balance is practically non-existent as KPMG dictates when you have you use your holidays and the hours are long. Sometimes, clocking 60 to 90 hours is the norm. They also block the very same secondment opportunities internally that they pride themselves with. My mental health has suffered.

The people that I get to work with.
What did you like most about the interview process?
I joined the graduate scheme so I can't comment on the interview process of an usual external hire. But what I liked most about it was how relaxed it was and my interviewer was incredibly nice.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Better work life balance (and actual action being done, not just the usual talk) and actually getting paid for the long hours we work. I feel like a number, and don't feel like my contributions are being valued.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Maintaining work life balance that is not just all talk and no action. Actually incentivising employees to stay because the retention rate is abysmal and it's not hard to see why. Those that remain face the consequences, which usually involves increased workload without increased compensation.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Whilst the leadership and bureaucracy is the absolutely worst thing about this firm (in particular, the audit department), the teams and colleagues that I have worked with are great. Always willing to help. Although I will say that I do not have great experiences with our offshore team.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
KPMG views you as a resource, nothing more, despite everything that they preach. Despite working unpaid overtime for them for 4 years, I get no personal development or opportunities in return. Even if you've found one and secured it, make no mistake, the audit department will find a way to block it.
