The executive team and HR are more concerned with PR (e.g., purchasing awards like this one) than resolving actual issues, like disparity in pay and benefits, offering telework options, addressing the nepotism, etc.

KUBRA takes care of its employees. it doesn't mean that they will be ostentatious and lavished in excess, but we are compensated fairly and generously. Nothing is perfect, and the company's performance dictates much of what can be provided, but the company does strive to give as much as possible.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
KUBRA hires the cheapest candidates they can find -- typically desperate candidates who require employment for their visas -- who lack the experience, skills, or talent necessary for the job positions they fill. The company just commenced outsourcing American and Canadian jobs to India.

Coworkers focus on (and are rewarded for) producing quantity over quality, resulting in low-quality software that is poorly engineered and just plain doesn't work.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
There is a failure by the company to recognize employees as their most valuable asset, and treat them accordingly. The company needs to stop exhibiting reckless disregard for human health and safety, e.g., with respect to keeping people safe from COVID-19.

KUBRA exhibits huge favoritism, special treatment, and rewards to a privileged few. HR is incompetent (can't manage basic tasks like payroll), instead focusing on secondary, useless tasks, like competing for 3rd party awards or planning social events. Company doesn't care about employees.

The interview didn't take multiple days or even multiple hours. The interviewers asked questions relevant to the job role and did not waste time testing how well you can memorize algorithms.

I liked the use of a timed coding problem that was relatively free-form (not requiring programming within hard-to-use applications). Good interactions with the team during in-person interviews.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Focus should be shifted from hiring the cheapest candidates to hiring the right candidates. The bottom-of-the-barrel candidates who do accept the low ball offers frequently leave, sometimes within weeks, not having the skills for the job and receiving a better offer elsewhere.

Eliminate the nepotism/favoritism. Some people have been hired without being subjected to the full, normal hiring process (e.g., bypassing interviews, only interviewing a single candidate and not considering others, etc.).

A good start would be to treat employees with basic dignity and respect.

Open office floor plan makes it impossible to accomplish work during work hours. Company's telework policy only allows employees to work remotely once or twice a month, and only under extenuating circumstances. Company puts profit before its own people.
