My experience at Outback has been horrendous. I am a server. The manager in charge of our establishment threatened to fire me over missing a shift to be with my grieving family after a tragedy.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The servers are supportive of one another.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Understanding. Caring. They are "machines of the company."
What did you like most about the interview process?
The manager I spoke to when I was hired was very compassionate and understanding.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The food comes out slowly, and is often cooked to the wrong specifications. The sanitary standard at this restaurant is below average.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team is supportive of one another. Servers are always there to help me when I have questions (I am relatively new at the restaurant) or when I need assistance.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I feel extremely undervalued. I have always been one to go above and beyond at work, including running other server's food, etc. In a 6-hour shift I might make $60 in tips, and this is the only compensation worth mentioning that I will receive. I might get 5 tables a day.
