Outback steakhouse is a letdown. It's no surprise they donate to Trump's campaign and keep their human resources hidden from even employees. Eg. An employee needs to ask a manager to get the number, even if that manager is the problem.
What are some of the best things about your team?
I love the multitude of friendly personalities that work here at outback.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Managers need to care. They need to stop doing things like bragging about going to the beach on a holiday when everyone is working (and not being fairly compensated)
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Few people truly care about their job and what it entails. It is a culture of overwork and literal poverty where the management wants everyone to care and then pay employees less than minimum wage.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Management needs to be more human. Forcing employees to work 12 hour shifts for less than 50 dollars is unacceptable. When 20 employees have the same complaint, pay attention. Do not discredit them by saying things like "it's all in your heads."
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Outback does not pay a living wage to most of it's "tipped" employees. I define a living wage to be 500-600 a week. You are forced to stay at work for very long hours and are demonized if you call out. Awful work culture.
