Underpaid, undervalued, but there's room to do your work and be left alone if you work for the right person.

What makes you most happy at work?

My team and our manager. If you keep your purview as small as possible, things can be tolerable.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

There are incredibly gifted and talented individual contributors at Pendo. If you're lucky enough to have a caring and good manager, you can do a lot of cool and creative work.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

There are some Pendo sycophants for sure - because there are few 'cool' tech companies HQ'd in Raleigh, there are people who think that Pendo can do no wrong, which blinds them to the harsh realities that some of us face every day.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Taking action instead of giving lip service to issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. I've been at Pendo for over a year, and for a full year they've been talking about how diversity is important, etc, but if you look at our stats - we've actually gotten whiter in 2020.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Be respectful of people's time. Job seekers may not have weeks and months to dedicate to interviewing. There's little flexibility for people who can't take full weekdays off to interview for 3-4 hours. As long as the CEO has the final say in a candidate, we're going to get whiter and more male.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

I took a pay cut (as many Pendozers do) to come to Pendo with the promise that there would be room to grow. But we have no job scorecards, no paths for professional development, and raises outside of promotions can only happen once a year. There is no cost of living raise guaranteed, either.
