Q&A With Safeway Employees

Our employees enjoy competitive pay and excellent benefits, along with a positive work environment built on mutual respect and professionalism. Safeway has a strong reputation as a responsible corporate citizen and has long been committed to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.

How employees describe working at Safeway

You took over shoppers at green spring shopping center about a month ago. We expected a nice store with upgrades like the on in Towson or owing mills. Instead we got a store that is half empty, old products, no lighting, dirty and uninviting store. We feel like you are dumping your worst here

Everything is very. Good now

Safeway has no soul. They wont let people wait for cancellation or no shows for vaccine.

I have been a customer of Safeway for over 30years. And looking for a career change, based on the store at 7th Street and Glendale the employees always were happy. At Fountain HIlls is not the same.

I can count on quality from Safeway and the employees are their biggest strength.

Minimize the corporate team and train management to be real leaders and treat people right.

  • Start over at the top. Replace management with people who actually do the job they're paid to do.

  • Do more to help employees in departments. Most of us work 2-4 hours by yourself and don't feel we can call management to help us when we need it.

  • They think he's a joke. Nothing is done well. Since corporate is unwilling to improve anything, it won't get better.

  • We think of the CEO only know about the money and profit , he doesn’t know of how to run the local grocery market business and let’s not talk about relationship with customers and of course his store level employees , we think he know none of it , and possible doesn’t care at all !

  • Not very much. Since the Albertsons name is in charge things have changed and everything is about money, they don't seem to care about employees or customers.

  • Hit or miss. In my department the ones I don't see often or work with for long are the ones who have the superiority complexes and seem to despise those who show up hours into their shift. The ones with whom I have similar shifts are the most accepting people. Coworkers outside of my department I don't have any complaints with.

  • Friendly, respectful, kind and understanding.

  • Fine, Just keep them as Coworkers

If you get promoted to front end management you only get a pay raise when you're management at the time up front. When your checking your pay rate goes back down. I got management front end so I can be a back up but when I'm not up front management and I'm checking I only get paid my normal pay . Really sucks cause I did not no that at the time so when I got my paycheck it was a lot smaller then before.

  • If your in the Click its ok but if your not no one talks to you

  • At the store level, generally dedicated. They are also VERY overworked.
