It is frustrating working for a company that has so much potential but upper management is squandering it.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Staples is very innovative and the emphasis is on customers first.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Working long and inconsistent hours for poor hourly wage and struggling to pay rent while holding a management position with the store is unfair.

What did you like most about the interview process?

It was a 1 on 1 interview with the store's GM who would be my direct supervisor. It allowed me to immediately get a feel for who I would be working with and learning from.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Communication is not balanced from the top to the bottom. There is a break between store and corporate communcation. The District Managers and above need to keep the GM, Ops and Sales managers in the loop.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Labor hours. They do not allot enough hours to the store to properly schedule staff. We work on a skeleton crew 80% of the time while expecting to deliver excellence to every customer. That isn't possible when its 3 or 4 employees for 10-12 customers at a time.
