How employees describe working at Starbucks

Good, but could be more engaging.

Review from Engineering Dept

Overall good because of my coworkers

Review from Sales Dept

7 years and the company has had many ups and downs. High expectations for low hourly wages. Easy to promote within if you are motivated to do so. Semi-hard labor (physically and mentally taxing at times; always standing/moving/talking; messy). Transfers available all over the U.S.

Review from Sales Dept

I love my job and the people that I work with. I look up to my manager. I just wish I could move up in the company at some point

Review from Operations Dept

The questions were not too difficult.

Asked to the Sales Department at Starbucks

  • Very stressful when it's busy. We are understaffed. Over 40 per week.

  • It depends. I'm working about 35+ hrs each week.

Asked to the Sales Department at Starbucks

  • Many are very hard works. We have a handful that are very lazy and unaccountable who find ways to look busy but do nothing. This makes work for the rest of us become too much to bare.

  • Amazing.

Asked to the Sales Department at Starbucks

  • Most are wonderful. There are a couple who do nothing and it causes a poorly run shift. It's normally a stressful job, but when the few lazy shift baristas work, it's exhausting.

  • They are always being there for the team. Making sure they know what is going on within the store&partners.

  • Depends on your shift. I work midshifts (10am - 5/6pm) so I usually don't get much of a day when I work. Working straight mornings or nights would be great if you still want time in your day. Days off are valuable, of course. Overall, good.

Asked to all employees at Starbucks

  • When I first started I thought to myself “How hard could it be to make drinks and ring people up?”. I thought it would be a piece of cake, but that’s not it at all. You must memorize lots of different things and learn all the buttons on the register. Baristas also do lots of hard work during the rushes no matter what position your working on that day.

Asked to the Customer Support Department at Starbucks

  • Typically at starbucks you are hired as a barista and participate in each separate roll during your shifts. Baristas will do everything from ringing people up to making drinks to doing customer support to stock things and brew hot coffee to keep up with the baristas and customers demands. When I was hired they didn’t ask me specifically anything about starbucks besides why I see myself working there and what my favorite drink was. Asking you what your favorite drink is may be a little test on what you currently know about the drinks and how to order them correctly. So try to prepare yourself to tell them your favorite drink the right way, but don’t stress about this, as this won’t affect your chances of being hired. When you start working as a barista they will train you in every position that baristas work in.

  • Great! I got the delta dental gold plan for me and my husband. I pay $80 a month and it pays 80% of root canals and crowns. My dentist was shocked! Most only cover 50%. It has been great for my dental needs!
