What do you like best about the leadership team?
The entire leadership team, from CEO to the first-line Managers demonstrate every day how much they care about the employees and support them to enable the best customer service that can be provided.

Cuts in leadership and planning area were overdue, but the work being cut is falling on the 20% of workforce already doing 80% of the work. Major abuse in the pholosophy of “I can get more done working through others” over the years is still an issue, with cuts.. this needs to change. cant abuse it

What is the best part about your compensation package?
Opportunity for annual performance based bonus, based partly on company meeting sales and customer growth goals, and partly on my own personal performance.

Getting plenty of days off and great benefits.

There are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of - medical, dental, disability, life, plus financial benefits like 401K (matched to a certain portion), credit union, tuition reimbursement, and educational opportunities. There is even a PENSION, unheard of in most companies.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I am a top-performer in my department, but I am compensated in the lower third of our pay scale.

Way below the market, 2% raise is well below the 4% cost of living.

Pension is only great for long term employees. It’s geared to be beneficial with 30+ years service. Not good for employees coming from different companies with tenure, or for young people who have no idea if they could be laid off. Higher 401k would be better.

What are some of the best things about your team?
Small, agile team that has almost 100% autonomy.

The best thing about our meetings is how effective they've become since we began working from home extensively during Covid-19. We used to have some ineffective meetings when we were all working in the office, but since we shifted to a work-from-home model, we're very effective.

Work/life balance is respected. You are not expected to work more than 40 hours a week.

Our employees care for one another as witnessed by the recent development of a program where employees can help out other employees through tough financial situations, and the company contributes to the pot as well. This employee assistance program has already helped countless employees.

Only two interviews: a phone interview with HR & then an in-person interview with the team I was being hired into.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Leadership at State Farm doesn't understand how to use technology to improve business at all. They are paralyzed by fear of network outages & therefore move extremely slow. In a tech dominated industry, this could be a fatal misstep.

We have lost our leadership role in the industry. We need to get executives who understand insurance and IT back in charge of the company.

Management was abysmal. Upper management wasn't involved but made decisions about regular employees frequently.
