The coworkers in the medical department. We have to stick together and watch out for each other due to DON not knowing the NDS standards.
Communication and the hiring of appropriate leadership and directors. Personal preference is NOT policy. We should be going by policy only. This is North Lake Processing facility. The attriction in the medical department is high at 5 personnel leaving only after 1 month of openeing to detainees.
We stick together to achieve the mission. The biggest concern is the DON that is about personal preference instead of policy. Reprimands should not happen due to her personal preference. Although it is not the way she would do it, does not mean that it is inappropriate not by policy.
The DON is wrong in all aspects. I do not believe that she has enough experience as a leader to be put in that position. We can; however, develop her with leadership courses and a mentor. Until then, the attrition rate in the Medical Department at North Lake will remain above average.
The work that is required is more than a physician as a Nurse Practitioner. We are required to be a Nurse Practitioner and an RN due to leadership not being able to retain RN's once they started. We are hired as FNP's but are required to work as RNs on certain days as well.
