The culture is changing. After 20 years with them the attitude is shifting away from "Take Care of Our Employees" directly to "Reward Our Shareholders." It seems the only people who move up through the company are the well-connected or have attributes that show off diversity (except at the top).
What makes you most happy at work?
I like to stay busy. I like to help people.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone not in management at the warehouse level believes in what they do.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Can't think of any positives at present. I suppose it's better than other retail companies. They remind you of that regularly.
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
I wish the "hiring pool" at my company doesn't intentionally exclude non-minorities like myself. In my opinion hiring should be based on merit, not appearance.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone tries their best. Unfortunately I have to "coach" them weekly for not having good numbers. It's a shame because the attitude is that the employee has somehow failed by giving the members what they ask for. Not everyone needs another credit card, people who spend little don't need Exec.
