Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

I feel that we end up getting more job responsibilities as positions are cut or new enhancements are added but compensation stays the same. As well with the ever increase in cost of living that our merit increase does not keep us on par or competitive in compensation.
