Q&A With Kroger Employees

At Kroger, we’re so much more than a grocery store. We’re a friendly team working together to feed families and communities every day. Whether you are looking for a part-time job or long-term career, we can offer you more.

How employees describe working at Kroger

Uncomfortable working schedules I worked with no breaks and when I seldom had lunch would be asked to take no longer than 10 minutes.

Review from Product Dept

my overall experience has been okay but there are a few kinks to work out

Review from Sales Dept

The only thought on my mind when I walk in the door is "What time do I leave?" And my most common thought throughout the day is "I'm tires and I want to go home."

Communication and appreciating the employees

Review from Customer Support Dept

I’ve worked at Krogers in Illinois and this one in Tx is very laid back noway would you catch standing around like we do here inTx. The front lane managers are much younger don’t think they care compared to the ones I had back home. Just different

Asked to the Sales Department at Kroger

  • What is the least amount of hours are you willing to accept

  • Can you work weekends??

  • Well I was 16 when I first started Kroger. My basic questions were about the scheduling and the pay. I wanted to make sure my schedule didn’t interfere with my schooling. As I moved up in the company and got promoted I asked questions regarding my seniority and if there was a chance of me being relocated to another location

Asked to all employees at Kroger

  • "Yes" men/women, dummies, go-alongs, ethically-challenged, rump smoochers, and those who are willing to abandon critical thinking and intelligence. If you're good with evil, you'll fit right in.

  • Desperate. I've seen people hired quickly through our job fair. Then let go 3 weeks later when the background check comes in. If you have a record and didn't say anything during hiring phase seem to be a auto fail. If reported most can be worked with or around. But that is the discretion of the management. That mostly look at availability and need of workers. If they are desperate they will work with just about anyone. There is a 2 month probation after hire. Where they can let you got for any reason and not have to explain it to the union.
