I have a great team, work for a great cause, and have a great work/life balance. I am also not paid well enough. A job change will be necessary in the near future if compensation for R&D YoY is not drastically improved. Even inflation raises have been off the table because it wasn't budgeted.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They are quick to adapt to change, and have a good understanding of how to move the business forward.
What makes you most happy at work?
I love that when I am working from home, a quick break with my family can re-energize me twice as fast as a break at an office. I love that I can work at my home office, and see my kids during a coffee break.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The opportunity to work from home is excellent. My team works together virtually very well - though we could use some more virtual tools (i.e. Meta Quest) to help with brainstorming sessions. My team has a culture of kindness and respect for one another, and we all get along well.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
As a member of the R&D Vertical, the industry standard for raises is much higher than a flat 2.5%. The standard yearly raise does range anywhere from 2% to 5% per year, but changing jobs is almost guaranteed to get you 15%+ more. Raises aside, 15% is the minimum expectation for a promotion in R&D!
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team works together very well. We are always working on ways to improve our sprint process so that we are more efficient. My teammates support each other well, and are quick to change track when necessary. We have built a lot of camaraderie over the years, and they are the main reason I am here.
