Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
higher pay, I think the company in general underpays compared to tech competitors. Better benefits e.g. 401K matching!!

I took a pay cut to join Newsela, but my overall job satisfaction is higher at Newsela than at my previous job, even though my hours are longer at Newsela. Working less hours would make me feel better about my compensation.

The best thing about Newsela, by far, is the people! Newsela employees are dedicated, mission-oriented, and willing to work together to solve problems. One of my favorite things about Newsela is the culture of celebrating successes and sharing appreciation for one another.

My team has really kind, thoughtful people. They are also intelligent and extremely competent, but above all, I'm astounded by how much they care about each other and our users. It's very different to work on this team than other companies because of how open minded and empathetic people can be.

I know my manager cares about by well-being, both in the workplace and outside of it. We work hard, but we also play hard and rest hard. :) I never feel guilty taking PTO and I have coworkers who often check in and encourage days off if they can tell I am overwhelmed.

I loved meeting most of the team I'd work closely with and I thought the case study was thought-provoking.
