Tinder Engineering Department Employee Reviews

What do you like best about the leadership team?

Leadership Reviews

They really care about the company's success

Review from Engineering Dept

I think the leadership team is pretty transparent to the employees.

Review from Engineering Dept

They understand the target audience

Review from Engineering Dept

Open communication, Clarity of execution plan and considering us as their valuable asset.

Review from Engineering Dept

My manager gives me a lot of flexibility to do projects the way that I want to do them and doesn't micromanage. He shields me from additional conversations that I don't need to be a part of.

Review from Engineering Dept

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

Focusing less on stock price and focusing more on customer and employee experience, stop doing stock buy backs unless they're being done for employee compensation

Review from Engineering Dept

Self awareness and honesty I think are skills the leadership team could improve. For instance, our engineering org, and the team i am on in particular, has very few women. And they are not treated fairly. Why does the leadership team think this is?

Review from Engineering Dept

The transparency is something we can improve a lot at also the communication

Review from Engineering Dept

Leadership needs to be better at: 1. Focusing on improving user experience rather than trying to monetize our users as much as possible 2. Be willing to take risks for innovation 3. Find a vision, and corral the team around it

Review from Engineering Dept

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

It is competitive when considering other offers for my career

Review from Engineering Dept

I like the $125 commute reimbursement.

Review from Engineering Dept

Its what I wanted when I joined, and now as I grow it will only get better.

Review from Engineering Dept

Health insurance, salary and bonus. I miss when we had dinner in the office and coordinated catering from local small businesses.

Review from Engineering Dept

Base pay is roughly market rate for my position, maybe a bit below. However, RSU package is not great given the stock price recently.

Review from Engineering Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

with the stock tanking, considering more RSU refreshing

Review from Engineering Dept

I feel undervalued as a human, and that no amount of money is worth putting up with the direct leadership team that I do here. I would feel better about my compensation if action was taken against managers that treat their teams incredibly poorly, instead of encouraging them.

Review from Engineering Dept

Being a remote employee I feel left out on various things and also, the perks like free lunches and other IRL events don't have a remote counter part

Review from Engineering Dept

since I joined the stocks had dropped a lot

Review from Engineering Dept

Stock price drop. Maybe can add some refresh to compensate the loss a bit

Review from Engineering Dept

What are some of the best things about your team?

Team Reviews

Really kind and genuine people

Review from Engineering Dept

they are inclusive, helpful, and friendly.

Review from Engineering Dept

team culture is awesome. teammates are willing to step in for offer help

Review from Engineering Dept

Its always a good time when we link

Review from Engineering Dept

Everyone is open to feedback and ready to help and collaborate.

Review from Engineering Dept

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

I have coworkers that intentionally block others for their own benefits, insult and raise their voices at their own team members, and management does nothing to discourage this, even promotes them to levels that require approvals from more than just their manager to keep them here at Tinder.

Review from Engineering Dept

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Environment Reviews

The people are really great and there is alot of room to grow

Review from Engineering Dept

I like that I am able to work closely event with people from other team, and contribute not only within our team domain.

Review from Engineering Dept

almost everyone willing to offer help

Review from Engineering Dept

The culture is young and enthusiastic

Review from Engineering Dept

Interacting with people on other teams.

Review from Engineering Dept

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

Please replace managers that encourage toxic culture here at Tinder. I have been told that "if I ever want to be promoted, that when it comes to my work life balance that work always needs to come first." My "performance" is relative to people that work till 2 AM every morning, and all weekend.

Review from Engineering Dept

Leadership needs to provide a vision that the majority of the company believes in.

What makes you most happy at work?

Outlook Reviews

The work benefits are great and I really like the issue that I get to work on

Review from Engineering Dept

Meet people and have lunch with them to chat about new things going on with them in their life or work.

Review from Engineering Dept

there are always some interesting projects there

Review from Engineering Dept

Getting things done and seeing good results

Review from Engineering Dept

Working on features with my team and occasionally collaborating with other teams

Review from Engineering Dept

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

For customers we're just focusing on extractive microtransactions rather than improving the app. For employees the soul of the company feels like its gone. Perks like lunch are just highschool cafeteria food, and social events don't feel the same as they used to.

Review from Engineering Dept

Management encourages a toxic work culture of 16 hour work days, blocks promotions, approves time off then forces us to work to meet their deadlines anyways, and then are protected by their leadership because they do a good job of meeting deadlines, so no action is taken when complaints are made.

Review from Engineering Dept

Im not convinced leadership on my team is aware of the problems we face. Additionally, I am not convinced they would do anything about the problems if they were aware based on their history.

Review from Engineering Dept

The future looks bleak at times

Review from Engineering Dept

Bottleneck at leadership level which has slowed down progress and reduced innovation. Leadership needs to give autonomy to people below them while giving a vision for the product.
