Is your team pretty diverse?
Yes it is, people from a lot of different countries
Yes, the NYC team is pretty diverse by gender, ethnicity, parents (very few, but there are some), etc.
What kind of questions did they ask you in your interview?
Background check, medical, vehicle inspection.... the customers interview you every ride

It is highly frowned upon to drink at work unless it's friday 5PM or so.

It would be nice if it’s a small pet and is friendly and behaved! It would be a great companion!!!
What is the best advice you could give someone during their first month at Uber?
Take advantage of the time they give you to onboard by shadowing as many people as possible. The wealth of knowledge across the org is incredible
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at Uber?
Not a question but time it takes to pass checks
How are the career growth opportunities on the Engineering team at Uber?
It is alright, opportunities are limited, and usually gone pretty quickly.

What's the work from home policy like at Uber?
It's mostly up to the individual managers. Some managers don't allow any, while others are extremely liberal (i.e., work from home whenever you'd like).
Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Uber?
I met existing team members and hiring managers several teams that were looking to hire. I heard back within 48 hours.

Extremely smart, forward looking, bold decision makers, but can do better on being judgemental

They usually ask you to do a presentation or proposal if you are going for BD or sales roles. Ultimately, they want to understand what ideas you have for the business and why?
How's the feedback proccess at Uber?
transparent , direct and objective driven, with citizenship (people skills) goals baked in.
How challenged are you at Uber?
Extremely, once in every two weeks i get to deal with problems that are relevant to my domain and i am somewhat accountable for , but have not done it (in such complexity, impact and scale). Its one thing Uber is distinct from almost all other current hip tech giants
How's the morale at Uber?
Uplifting. Cant say for everyone though, its hard, and i dont even know if average morale scores make sense, and i dont know the probability distributon. I feel good, people around me does not look each other down , like i have some other big tech companies
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Uber?
Market street is a dirty place :-0(. people pee everywhere
What unique perks and benefits does Uber provide?
Career growth (learn a lot, impact a lot), superb equity, fair pay. Not very many silly politics
What's the office layout like at Uber?
Open.but packed.
How much diversity is there among employees at Uber?
Tremendous. Its a challenge :-), and a good problem to have. Uber does not have ideological eco chambers, its engineering is mixed of folks from very diverse domains (hardware, software, data, product, legal., transport etc) and ethnic communities, with very interesting local /region specific features
