What are the differences between maternity and paternity leave at Amazon?
Number days that are allowed for the father's than the mother. Dad's get less
Unsure, I want to say they are pretty similar

What's the work from home policy like at Amazon?
its great, as it provides you with different amenities. And the good part is company pays for it.
If you work on the phones, you are required to have a quiet area, no noise allowed. They do send you a computer, and headset and they have paid training. You are required to be hard-wired into your router as that is more secure. They have numerous departments and the requirements for hours etc vary based on which department and job you are hired into. They are very strict when it comes to security and private information. They have regular training to keep you up to date on any and all changes. They are a GREAT company to work for!!!!

Patient, calm, at ease, firm- but not harsh...you know they are in authority, but they don’t rub it in and belittle those who are not....they also have excellent problem solving skills....and can communicate with different personalities and different intelligence levels without making anyone feel like they “less”

They're GREAT - if you're a customer. Internally, they couldn't care any less about their associates. They are cogs in a wheel.
Great people. Everything is always there to help each other out. We are required to log in to our team chat rooms so if we need help it is there.

it starts low and small increases no matter how good your performance is
All of Amazon is customer support. That is from the top down. Personally i think mine sucks.

What's the vibe like in the IT dept at Amazon? How many hours are you working?
40 hours. Vibe gets better all the time.

I have never had a more interesting and challenging job than at Amazon. A normal week I would say I would between 40 to 60 hours.
Working roughly 50 hours a week. It is a lot of fun.
It's a place where builders can build. It seems like there's always something to work on, which means great avenues for career development. I work 35-40 hrs/wk
any background checks during interviews?
If you are a "green badge" contractor working for Amazon there is a background? check but their just checking for violent offensives. When you hire on as Amazon there is no additional back ground checks and no urinalysis with the green bagde company not Amazon

Transfers to other facilities are easy to get if you are in good standing at company
Above average. Amazon is expanding operations continously and upward mobility opportunities are always available, but quite often require transfer to other geographical locations. In that aspect, Amazon mimics military culture

everyday is a day 1
first there is stand up where they inform you of new ways to be terminated then the rest of the day is sunshine and farts.

Depends on your record since starting with them. They try to hire open positions internally as much as possible.

I can pick the days and hours I want to work. We are required to work a minimum of 4 hrs a week and max of 40 hours a week unless otherwise stated.

Just really great
Very smart, meticulous, but occasionally dumb and sloppy. Depends on how they feel that day

Is it OK to swear in front of people in the office?
Generally not, but it depends on context.
Gotta pick your moments
At least in my org, it's relatively rare. Nobody would freak out, but it's not an everyday occurrence. Other teams probably have a different vibe, but I can say for sure that swearing isn't pervasive.

Only water. Alchohol will get you fired. Anything besides water on the warehouse floor is against the rules as well.
