The bonus is the best part. Good, achievable goals that are objectively improving our biz each year are important, as are proper incentives.

Recognition and capability to recognize (ACE) spans the entire year and the entire organization top to bottom (or nearly, not sure?). In my team, everyone can recognize and be recognized for special efforts and achievements, and with monetary value - not just words!
