Overall my experience has been good. The main drawbacks are: the future is uncertain (as are the futures of all defense contractors), the pace is a little slower (typical for A&D), the pay is less than companies in other fields and the company doesn't drive change for young people or those in Dallas
What makes you most happy at work?
Traveling, closing out a project milestone and being recognized for the work I've done
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Their passion, vision and how personable they are when you run into them in the halls, cafeteria, etc.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The leadership team empowers the individual contributor to make their own decisions, be their own person and embraces the individual nature of every employee.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
My coworkers are all significantly older than me. Some have taken the time to get to know me, but in general a young person at Bell can expect to feel like a token millennial depending on what department they are in.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Bell, Textron and in general A&D companies do not pay their employees the same as peers at different companies. Salaries and promotions are largely dependent on years of service. A young person replacing an older person cannot expect to earn the same amount salary. The opposite is not true.
