Overall for the last year working at dollar general has not been all that bad, however they are always hiring the more people that get hired the less hours you get to the point you need to have a second job or find a job elsewhere because you can't support a family of 3 on 16 hours a week.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The customers are what makes your day when they leave happy you know you have done the job right.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Need to improve their abilities with what the job includes cleaning stocking, customer service. There needs to be better communication from each employee and managers.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Employees still employed who don't want to work, over stocked of merchandise not enough hours (regardless of last years sales) to get freight moved and stocked.
What did you like most about the interview process?
She saw my experience and gave me a chance based on that and a year later I'm still working just as hard as the first day.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Store manager and assistant manager are great but there needs to more team work with the other employees. Some employees pull more weight then others because they are just there for a check and nothing more nor do they want to put the work into it.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Because when I'm there I work hard and fast yet other are not pulling their weight so it push stress on me to get it done. I would feel better about it if I was working more then just 21 hours and having a better pay with benefits.
