What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Raising the pay for employees that have been with DG for years without much needed living wages.
What makes you most happy at work?
I enjoy working, making progress on my future, helping others and even more... supporting my family. The customers are always appreciative of our hard work and determination to keep them satisfied, while my coworkers are wonderful people doing all they can to survive in this world.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The customers and employees at most locations are beautifully diverse, for all the wrong reasons unfortunately. But hey, at least DG provides a place for rural and impoverished communities to buy all of their household needs. Even if the pricing and employment is nowhere near the national average.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
A living wage. Raise the rate of pay for hourly workers immediately to $15/hr minimum and continue to raise the hourly rate along with DG capital. Stop giving so much to your highest paid executives, opening new stores and investing in the stocks. Choose to do right by your employees.
What are some of the best things about your team?
They are all as hard working as one another. My team is full of amazing personalities and people who are eager to work and provide for their families. We all look out for one another as we are always in need since our employer doesn't provide a living wage or health insurance. My peers are great.
