Leaders are polite when asking for things. They do want to help when it comes to early technical fundamentals of your job.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Stagnant, no or slow opportunities for growth, unfair bias, hard results not rewarded. The ability to move up in some way would make compensation better
