I feel that we should focus on the customer. Calling all employees to a huddle to talk about customer service, while having lines and product that needs to be stocked just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
It is difficult to work together in such a toxic culture. New employees are among the lowest paid in the area (fast food pays better). Motivated employees quickly move on to other companies. Those who stay are protected by the union.
Leading! I am shocked every day when I come to work are realize that we haven't gone out of business yet. The decisions made at the corporate level are often unproductive and occasionally counter productive. We strive every day to implement plans that aren't thought out at all.
We realize that we need to be more efficient to compete with amazon and walmart. Instead to just cutting hours, why not eliminate counter productive and non productive tasks. I fill out several forms a day (not required by the government) that are never looked at ever. Work smarter not harder.
Bonuses are given out, but rarely. I do get a raise annually. Usually it is 25 cents an hour. But usually there are take aways. We would feel more valued if the company would respect our time more. Counterproductive projects, meaningless paperwork that is never even looked at, etc.
