Snap Finance Claimed Company
Since 2012, Snap has been on a mission to bring flexible, pay-over-time financing options to all consumers. Our retail partners told us that many of their customers couldn’t qualify for traditional credit, causing embarrassment and leaving them with no way to buy the items they want and need for their families. This gap also left our retail partners with missed opportunities. At Snap, we’ve harnessed the power of data to empower customers of all credit types and to help retailers close more sales. Our technology brings together machine learning, non-traditional risk variables, and years of data to create a proprietary decisioning platform. The result is financing that looks at each customer through a more holistic, human lens. We’re proud to serve the 40% of U.S. consumers who are building or rebuilding their credit. Our fast, flexible pay-over-time solutions are changing the face and the pace of consumer retail finance. And we’re hiring! read more

Briefly describe your overall experience at your company

My own boss has no interest in what I do. He is possessive and jealous. He knows I am talented, but he expects me to read his mind and do things without delegating or empowering me to do them. When I encounter resistence, he doesn't back me up or help me cut through the red tape. Boss is in the way.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

The original executives are wonderful and approachable.

What do you like best about the leadership team?

They are prudent. Some of them are very approachable.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Identifying and developing in-house talent. Enabling innovation. Delegating decision making.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Many (but not all) of the executives are approachable and genuine.

What makes you most happy at work?

Getting appropriately recognized for what I do. When my boss sees the same value that my stakeholders do.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Our team has almost no cohesion. We don't have any common goals and rarely do anything to help each other out. My team is a leadership team in our department, but it lacks engagement and vision.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Snap has no long-term incentives/profit sharing/equity programs. They've talked about doing this in the past but the leadership failed at executing on it. It clearly isn't a priority. "Why buy the cow, when the milk is free?"

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Austerity has turned the company into a dog eat dog world. Too many mouths to feed. Unclear/lack of ownership on key processes. Incredible difficulty of getting information on how our systems work. Way too many unproductive meetings.

What are some of the best things about your team?

My employees get along well and are fulfilled at work. It is a pleasure to work with them. My team, however, lacks cohesion and a unifying vision. We don't collaborate well and have a negative reputation at the company. It is quite draining to work on that team.
