20 years! It must be treating me right to stay for as long as I have.

What makes you most happy at work?

Seeing coworkers and positive environment within my dept. Experiencing less Dr/nurse/student/staff division. Having freedom and less micromanaging.

What are some of the best things about your team?

Hybrid schedules to give everyone a break from the social aspect to get work done is very helpful. I personally notice I can concentrate and get more work accomplished without the daily disruptions.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Many of my colleagues have expressed how the institution as a whole doesn't view support staff as important. We know we are not doctors saving lives, but we do bring a lot to this institution and have the same goal to see this institution succeed.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Accepting change. The baby boomer mindset of work 1st and family life 2nd is prehistoric. It's ok to have personalized work schedules. I've noticed the change in work ethic from 20 yrs ago. Adapting isn't the problem; the problem is working w/people who refuse to adapt.

What do you like best about the leadership team?

My previous dept was challenging with the horrible leadership team that started from the chair. I transferred to a new dept with a completely different respect. My new team is supportive, acknowledges my years of loyalty to this institution and has been such a blessing to my wellness.
