The workload far exceeds the pay, there are no incentives or even raises, aside from the incremental coin change step raises. We are assigned paltry 5 hour shifts and for more than five years our store was misclassified as a larger store. We had years of more freight then we could safely store.

At the store level, they carry out the tasks put before them, and that's fine. But they are hamstrung by the rigidly regimented edict from the top that doesn't consider the employees.

The employees and customers are the highlights of the work experience. My quarrel is from the executive aspect of the company. They seem divorced from the human aspect of a workplace environment.

The people that work their are, as in any work place varied in attitude and work ethic. Overall, however, people seem to be willing to attempt to complete the tasks put before them.

Again, the meager salary and ridiculous expectations for freight moved by the hour don't make me leap out of bed and into the store, but at least it's something. Under employed is better than unemployed.

It's within their rights to pay the federally mandated minimum to their employees, but you should then expect minimal level work ethic. In the state of VA it's less than $7.50 yet there is a pervasive by the book culture that promotes constant write-ups as opposed to a focus teaching & encouraging.
