Great place for learning fast, lots of growth opportunities, and really great people to learn from, and build relationships with. The growth opportunities come at the cost of falling behind the market on all pay and benefits. Incentive is to grow skills here, and leave to be paid fairly.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We acknowledge the doers, we publicize our wins, and we push very hard to be the best software company we can be.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Always available, and willing to work together. Understanding, fair, very smart, technical, strong under adversity, they are probably the only thing that makes me proud to work here.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Too much noise, not enough signal. Too much focus on 'fair' and not enough on making sure the doers are placed in the right positions and retained. Too much reactions to customer needs/wants without thinking through how to best achieve the asks.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Incentivize high performers with actual differentiating pay structures. There is little to no difference between someone who is exceeding expectations, and what they are able to receive vs someone who is meeting expectations. Naturally this gives high performers little reason to want to stay.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
The NYC market dictates that my pay should be higher then what it is, but we are scoped/based to all of America. In addition, the health care and 401k benefits are also behind market. I appreciate many of the other incentives, but there is little reward in many of the 'fun' activities we pitch.
