I love working at Alkami. It's going through incredible growing pains at the moment, which makes conflict inevitable. This is a normal part of life at a startup, as the chaos gradually dies down and is replaced piece by piece with order and structure. I'm confident that it is going places.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Engaged in the company and the brand.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Better health care options (non-BCBSTX) would help, as would education benefits (e.g., tuition reimbursement).
What makes you most happy at work?
Seeing quality work being done, working with great people, and accomplishing cool things together. Working with people who are excited about things and work collaboratively together to deliver amazing results. The focus on culture. All great things about working at Alkami.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Most Alkamists are reall good people, and a pleasure to work with. That's what makes it jarring when occasionally running into people who don't have that team mindset. Ensuring we are hiring people who are a good fit for the culture would be a great step to take.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
The work is fast-paced, which means a huge focus on results first. While this is important, long hours + fast pace = burnout. When managers work 10+ hours either the employees do the same, or they are seen as not carrying their load. Managers should lead by example by working normal hours.
