I feel very fortunate to work at Interactions. I'm not sure if the perfect company to work for exists, but in my role in my area of IT that I work in I think it's pretty darn good. I'm very proud to say that I am part of team responsible for keeping production systems running at a high quality.

I'll not be brief as my tenure is over a decade. The experience at my company has vastly improved - especially so over the last 5 years, despite our business shrinking. Growth-minded staff was retained, and efforts made to follow current best practices in software delivery.

I have been given several challenging projects to work on which is the main thing I look for. We had two big layoffs that I think shook people's confidence a bit, but we seem to be hiring at a more sustainable pace now.

Explaining why the company looks through rose-colored glasses at company meetings, where everything seems to be going well, but proceeds to lay off staff and cut bonuses EVERY YEAR. Positivity has its place, but being realistic with employees also needs to be a part of the communication approach.

I'm very appreciative of our health insurance offering. It's very generous in its coverage and the monthly premium is quite low compared to other health benefits I'm aware of.

I believe the amount of paid time off is seriously deficient. It negatively effects expected participation in family activities and needs. It also seems at odds with industry trends thus affecting talent acquisition.

Most of my team was laid off last year, so now the work of a whole team is being put on three people. We did not get raises, we did not get a bonus, but we definitely took on more responsibility. You can't keep laying people off and expect the remainders to support your endeavors wholeheartedly...

The fact that questions are always welcome. I try to foster this within my team by always reiterating there are no "stupid" questions, and the majority of things are up for discussion. Getting everyone's point of view on a topic is extremely important, and helps look at problems from every angle.
