Panera Bread – For the first 2years, it had rough spots but I got through it. Over this past year though the workload feels like it's been increasing and expectations are higher, yet they did away with guaranteed raises and it's been 6 months of working almost daily to get nothing in return. I feel worthless. | Comparably

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Not make your diversity training elearning an hour of telling all your white employees they're privileged and unable to experience hardships based on their skin color.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

We have about 10 people employed when we're supposed to have over 30. Everyone's working 6 days a week scheduled and if they call you in and you say no, you lose hours over the next few weeks because they're mad you didn't bail them out.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

There is nothing positive. I dread coming in every day and the only reason I do is because of the job market right now. We're paid barely above minimum wage with hours being cut because of harping of labor by the AoP so we don't get scheduled, we don't get raises, and everyone wants to quit.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

I get paid 10 dollars an hour to work 6-7 days a week for 3 weeks in a row, have 2 days off, and repeat the cycle. Every Panera is understaffed right now, my cafe has 1/3 the amount we're supposed to have, and no effort is put into hiring yet we're expected to be okay with this and want to come in.
