Review from Design Dept

I have been working in this company for 9 years. I like the environment and the benefits the income is fair. What i don't like is too many changes on a fast pace without a real structure. Asked to the Communications Department at Wells Fargo

  • Communications roles are compensated lower than the industry average and lower than similar internal support roles such as Marketing. The pay disparity is a problem since it's almost impossible to get a significant raise. It's widely known that you need to leave the company to get a pay bump.

Asked to the Communications Department at Wells Fargo

  • The vibe is still somewhat negative at the moment due to the customer service problems/negative news that the company has experienced over the past 18 months. Since Communications has to try to manage the company's reputation, the negative energy directed at our company by customers and the media hits us especially hard. Corporate management is trying to take steps to improve employee morale, which is a positive. Recent steps include adding additional paid holidays and a stock award program for all employees. Hours are 45-60 on average, with weekend and evening crisis management a regular occurrence. Stress level is high for most.

Asked to the Communications Department at Wells Fargo

  • Leadership in Communications varies greatly. There are some excellent managers, but unfortunately, also some very poor managers. The best managers help create career paths for employees, the ones at the other end of the spectrum hold people back and destroy morale. The head of the division is a strong communications practitioner and does an good job of leading the function. However, he devotes very little time to managing people, which means poor managers are allowed to remain in their positions and leads to a toxic environment in some parts of the division.
