Review from Design Dept

I have been working in this company for 9 years. I like the environment and the benefits the income is fair. What i don't like is too many changes on a fast pace without a real structure. They change their mind and the systems and tools frequently. It makes it difficult to keep up and be consistent

  • It will depend on the business line. Each group has different policies around conducting interviews. In my most recent hiring we were given very specific interview guides that were tied to the position. Each candidate was asked the exact same questions. The questions were all fairly typical and appropriate for the type of position that I was hiring for.

  • Situational- the kind that have have nothing to do with your job, but how you handle yourself in certain situations. It’s called STAR interviewing.

  • Situational questions.

  • Promotions can occur in two ways. You can initiate a promotion by applying for any open position (assuming that you have been in your current role for greater than one year). In my experience, this is how the majority of people move up within the company. It is also possible that management will recognize your contribution and proactively seek new opportunities for you. However, in most cases, this second scenario will still require a job to be posted and other candidates may apply for it.

  • In the mortgage end, there is very little opportunity for "promotion", in order to move up, you have to apply for an open position and hope you get the opportunity to interview for it. Very difficult to move up unless you have qualifications from outside Wells as there is almost always someone "more qualified".

  • If you are a dedicated hard worker who takes pride in your work you will have no problem getting promoted.

  • Total joke. They will post jobs, even though they already know who they are going to hire. Meanwhile, they make folks waste their time interviewing for a job they have no chance of getting. If you are a friend of a manager, you probably have a good chance of getting hired. They hired one person, who has no experience in the area as a manager a while back. Not that unusual, but when she is bringing home $300,000, it makes you wonder where the accountability really is.

  • Incredibly scripted, people without the proper qualifications can get through if they answer the questions right, while the qualified candidates wouldn't get it if they didn't answer the questions right. They completely overlook the candidates qualifications...

  • Panel interview of at least 2 people, if not more. There are a predetermined set of SAME questions that are asked of each candidate applying for that specific position. They do not waiver from the questions per applicant. This is to help ensure a more unbiased view of a candidate.
