Customer service! and have a human being answer the phone when there is trouble!!! Two hours to get a live person is awful! There are over 100 phones out and we couldn't get in personal touch w/you. Only when we called that we had a business line out did we get a live person.
Hr doesn't help new ways to save money all about taking from the workers

CenturyLink sales model is similar to used car sales so if candidates are comfortable in that environment they have a good chance of getting good commissions. The ideal candidate have to be willing to strive on high pressure, micromanaging sales environment.
Most have not succeeded in other companies. The ones that have tenur have been given prime accounts to make sure they stay successful.
What Sales department questions did Lumen (formerly CenturyLink) ask during your job interview?
Nothing particular but there is a roleplay with the person that will become your direct supervisor. During that roleplay, that is done thru a phone call with the supervisor calling from other office, the candidate have to demonstrate knowledge of selling techniques. The most important part of that roleplay are the objections and how the candidate can overcome them. I believe that 80% of the hiring decision is base in that roleplay.

How helpful was your Sales team when you were first hired at Lumen (formerly CenturyLink)?
CenturyLink main software is a Citrix base and absurdly complicated to master. The sales team is extremely important for you to be able to succeed and most of the coworkers are willing to help and new agents will need a lot of help.
Not at all. You are thrown out into the deepend to figure it all out.
How does Lumen (formerly CenturyLink) measure success and growth in the Sales department?
CenturyLink cares only about one service and that is what they call HSI (High speed internet). The sales commission and bonuses will be triggered as soon as you surpass your monthly goal for HSI. Agents are required to sell pots lines (land lines or VOIP) and premium attachments but if you surpass quota on those categories but not on HSI you wont get bonuses or commissions accelerators.
By what you sell, being in the boys club and getting prime deals assigned to those in the club.
What skills do you need to be successful in the Sales department at Lumen (formerly CenturyLink)?
The ideal candidate have to be relentless pushing existing and prospective customers to get new internet service. Candidates have to be outstanding overcoming objections. Most costumers call to complain about billing, agents need to be extremely patient since they will get insulted and berated very often.
You should be able to handle micromanagemt and managers that have a small business, transactional mindset.
How are layoffs handled in the Sales department at Lumen (formerly CenturyLink)?
Supervisor will walk you to a conference were site manager will provide you with a large envelope full of information and steps to get your severance payment. A second supervisor will show there with your personal belongings, after about 5 minutes you will be escorted out of the premises.

Not really good, majority of supervisors being there forever. There are opportunities that open here and there on some other departments but company refuses to compensate fairly for candidates willing to move to different departments.
Terrible and the company plan is horrible. You are most likely to end over 100% of quota and end up owing the company over $40k

Communication is always flowing thru Skype internally and site manager is always active pushing HSI sales, supervisors in the other hand will be listening to calls to make sure agents are following script.

Pay is good
The pay is great where I'm at because were union the rest of Centry link it's not so great.
What's the vibe like in the Communications dept at Lumen (formerly CenturyLink)? How many hours are you working?
No support from management. 40+ hours a week
The report of all the technicians isn't very good at this point because of the fact that we have no customer service so by the time that we get to the customer no matter how nice we are the customers angry, we're working normal 8 to 5 hours 40 hours a week No overtime mandatory per the company.

Non existent.
Current leadership is weak. Again, the almighty dollar is the driving force which limits the ability to provide good customer service.
What's the Operations team like at Lumen (formerly CenturyLink)?
Authoritative and clueless.
Management seems to care more about the almighty dollar than they care about the customers. Unfortunately, that translates to a "Why should I care anymore than management" attitude by a large percentage of the technical employees.
