no clear direction from department manager and he has downplayed my role and my contributions to the department

- The contractual hours are more than UK standard and the hours required to complete the work invariably exceed this. - The US culture of 'always working' means there is an expectation to always be available i.e. managers sending teams messages after 10pm - Strong performance not reflected in pay.
