An absolutely abysmal start that changed significantly after 6 months of sheer boredom. Now, an average working arrangement with interesting work that goes a bit slowly with some fun people in other teams. The pay is fine but not great.
Crash landing to a standard job with good growth opportunities. I've had to constantly prove myself to be taken seriously; finding my own work. But when that works out, it really works out. I grow and help lift up others. My teammates - some trustworthy - seem great and we produce good work.
The salary is where it should be for my experience and location.
Positivity from the teams up, building trusting teams, better compensation and benefits, more agile approaches to tackling problems
I'm given lots of autonomy in growing in my career; taking the direction and initiative to improve myself.
They do seem to be with the times in terms of managing a company and finding ways to inspire workers.
Lots of open communication and Ask-me-anything sessions where we can hear information and ask tough questions straight "from the horse's mouth".
In general, there is a direction of trying to unify the company into one unit, and the branding and tech initiatives are in a direction I agree with.
It would be amazing if managers could put together some kind of get-to-know-you or a trust activity. I've been asking for this forever and it's standard practice just about everywhere else.
I don't often feel valued at work, my team has negative energy in general, and there are people I've learned I cannot trust. Tackling any of these things would help it improve
My team seems to not enjoy their work nor do they trust each other greatly. One person in particular brings the whole group down. Outside my team, people seem pretty fun and exciting - I enjoy working with them
Benefits and pay could be better. Teams need help with trusting one another. Communication platforms should be simplified and have an emphasis on accessibility. My manager needs to challenge me and give me criticism, not just praise. The turnaround time for review cycles need to be shorter.
As a Staff Software Engineer, I could easily make 100K more in total compensation from another company in my area. Additionally, I wouldn't have to pay for my health plan. The 2-year vesting period for 401k matching is insane - no other place in my industry does this.
The amount to my phantom stock units are significantly under what I could make other places. Health care premiums could be $0 to me - my past two employers made this happen. 401k matching should vest instantly. Why must we wait 2 years? I feel like there's no trust.
Policy and comm. changes from HR that show they are interested in the employees and not just the company. Ways for employees to get to know each other better, especially when on the same team. Managers and directors should trust their subordinates with recommendations so there is less redoing work.
Managers and directors don't trust subordinates, we're redoing tons of work b/c there isn't a clear migration plan. I'm uninspired b/c my work isn't tied to our OKRs or goals. I don't know my team, even after 9 months. Work isn't planned well by managers - we're met with tons of blockers.
We've had very little to no team building exercises for my team. Trust is difficult. One person threw me under the bus in front of the director. In general, I can rely on some teammates but not others. There are other coworkers that I do enjoy spending time with, but those interactions are limited
