These questions are difficult to answer due to the fact that the management there makes every day uncomfortable. It's become a daily routine or file language is used and disrespect is constant.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Simple management doesn't care to fix the problems that are at hand management continues to abuse verbally and customers are not that important to them. The only way to improve this store is to hire new managers.
