What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Invest some time in training of team members so they can learn/understand the process instead of shaming them in mass emails for attempting to complete an assignment with minimal guidance.

Communication. There are many instances where initiatives have been presented as a fait accomplie only to find out they hadn't consulted all stakeholders. The initiative is pushed through anyway and it is left to the stakeholders to resolve the consequences.

Leadership has been focused on figuring out how to reduce employee hours. This is somewhat misguided. Leadership should work to establish clear corporate goals that make employees excited to come to work. Currently, the goal is to keep everything afloat, which is unsustainable.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I feel undervalued as management cannot discuss career growth and insist the lack of compensation adjustment is just the nature of Sunnova. In addition, I have taken on way more responsibility however the compensation remains stagnant.

There was no salary increase for 4 years. I finally brought up the issue to my manager after 4 years, only then did I get a raise. But, it isn't enough to offset the lack of raises in the past years. With the company continuing to grow and increasing hiring, salary shouldn't go stagnant.

As a new employee, I do not understand why there is a not an annual merit increase or cost of living adjustment that coincides with the annual bonus process. If an employee is deemed as rewarding of a bonus, should that not also equate to some sort of salary increase, even if only a small %?

I am underpaid and my boss/department has a bad attitude. Tone at the top trickles down so I am in a toxic work environment.

Inflation is rampant. A significant raise to cover the inflation margin would show appreciation for me sticking with Sunnova instead of jumping ship to a higher-paying job somewhere else.

Higher-ups need better attitudes instead of frequently being in a bad mood and instilling fear into those who may wish to ask questions.

There are many good employees at Sunnova. There are far more extremely apathic individuals who only work at Sunnova because the low pay drives off better talent. Either raise pay or create a clear mission.

There is no micromanagement. cross functional teams are awesome and it's a way to learn more about the company that in return makes you more valuable.

Shrink the workforce and replace with better talent at half the volume, increase the pay of the stronger performers, and allow the stronger members of the executive team/senior management to to execute.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
It is just work at this point. Some days it can be exciting, some days it can be stressful and some days it can be boring. As to improvement, better accounting systems/software to eliminate some, if not most, of the manual process.

There is little consultation about new initiatives from sales/marketing and it is left to us to work out the implications after the fact. If we had more advance notice and discussions we could head a lot of the issues off before they arose.
