I have been with SWCA for many years, and have loved it. I stay for the people, and for my team. However, the job is more demanding than ever right now, COVID has really changed the dynamics of work and how our team operates. SWCA is a great company but we are growing very fast
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
We have a wonderful local team, and I genuinely enjoy working with our team and helping them grow/develop. The success of our team depends on investing in staff development. The demands are high on me and other local leaders, almost unattainably so. Local leaders struggle with work/life balance.
What makes you most happy at work?
Being challenged to find creative solutions for clients, and mentoring junior staff.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
I appreciate that we are given autonomy to work from home, and make our own schedule.

The people at this company are consistently wonderful, talented and smart professionals, who genuinely want to help eachother.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Our team is full of passionate and enthusiastic staff. I love watching them nerd out and grow as biologists.

I work with a team of wonderful and passionate people who genuinely care (sometimes too much) about the job that we do!
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I really appreciate the investment in developing leaders, especially the LEAP training. Our leadership team is consistently energetic about the company and making SWCA a great place to work.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Schedule flexibility is a big one. I appreciate the availability of Gives Back hours to spend on volunteer opportunities. I'm finally starting to see the value of the ESOP.

I get paid well for the job that I do, and I appreciate the amount of vacation time that I now get after being with the company for many years.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Morale on my team right now is low, and it is showing. Its taking a toll on everyone. More investment in the people will help reignite their passion and excitement for work. We also need to find ways to engage with eachother and rebuild our teamwork
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
There has recently been a shift in the company culture to focus more on "the numbers" and less on retaining our technical experts. The product we sell here is our people, and if we aren't investing in keeping the best experts here we are going to start losing what makes SWCA great.
