What does the leadership team need to get better at?
I've transcribed with the company for years and I've never seen the CEO say anything to those transcribing. Not even a little blurb in the company newsletter. Today is the first time Ive even seen his name.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Now I have not gotten paid for any of the work I did while I worked there and no one from Transcribe me will even respond to any of my messages. I should not have been treated this way because somebody made a mistake and didnt want anybody to know.

If you're "hired" as an admin, they illegally keep you as an independent contractor without benefits and extremely underpay you. They harass you and scream at you. You can't say anything about it, as you're not protected as a contractor and they know it. Stop.

I am a contract worker, therefore I am not eligible for these things. If I was offered a full-time job with them though, I would take it in a second.

The growth opportunities that were introduced came when I was already at the top of the ladder. There isn't much room to go from there. They need to figure out technology to be able to tell exactly how much time was spent typing in the window and pay accordingly.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
They need managers whom don't, fire people because they messed up

Your coworkers will not do their jobs and you will end up doing it or be screamed at. Any attempts at resolving this get your harassed by management. Eventually, you're fired and banned just because you wanted to do your job in peace.

Every transcriber has the opportunity to do as much or as little as they want. The minimum work requirement for transcribers is one transcription job per month. You do not depend on someone else's work to get your job done.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Treat people that work for you like they matter. There is no reason I should have been treated so unfairly anbd now they refuse to pay me for the work i did.

They don't pay the transcribers enough, so you're always behind for the clients. They advertise flexible hours, then require a minimum amount of work to be completed (even if there is no work) and remove you if you do not abide by these impossible rules.

Starting pay is $15 per audio hour, as stated on our website. Transcribers are actively encouraged to join other teams with a higher pay rate. The minimum work requirement is one transcrption job/month, and you can file an inactivity notice otherwise
We need to be paid more fairly. The discrepancy between what the company pulls in for a transcript and how much those doing the actual work make is peanuts.

What did you like most about the interview process?
They give several opportunities to join the company

There is not really an interview. You just fill in an application and, if accepted, take the test. Then if you wish to advance there are other tests available to take for other types of work or positions.

There is no interview, but rather an entrance examination.

At our company there is no interview, there are exams which determine the different teams you can join and levels of advancement you can obtain. I love it.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?
TranscribeMe's management already knows who they will pick before putting out job announcements. The interview process is just to fill out the laughable contract that gives them rights to every breath you've made and prevents you from EVER saying anything negative for life.

With over 2 million crowd workers, there is no way to know how many have the skills needed for admin roles as they become available. We do pride ourselves on promoting from within, and most of the admins today started out as transcribers.

Learning something new every day and the opportunity to improve my skills

I am grateful that the Team Project Leads give transcribers a heads up when there are incoming files to transcribe. They are also very responsive to questions, requests, and issues.

At TranscribeMe I can work whenever I want as much or little time as I wish. I don't have to complete jobs every day. I have the freedom of choosing when I want to work. There is also a lot of variety to the work which makes it more interesting as you're not typing about the same topic every time.
