Realizing that retention in our particular field is vital to our unit's long-term success. Stop putting level 1 managers in the line of fire.

My equals at other organizations make nearly 30% more than I do, but in the past the work environment here has been so positive that I didn't mind the lower pay. However, I'm now repeatedly asked to defend harmful company policy, and my relationships within the company are deteriorating as a result.
