We have many employees who are mediocre at best but they are good at staying visible. We really need to upskill our workforce and hold under performing employees accountable.
Employees at Smartsheet are rewarded with promotions and compensation based on tenure or nepotism; not merit or impact. This has created a homogenous environment that thrives on toxicity and subpar skill.
There is a rampant lack of accountability, and those who put forth the most work are overlooked in favor of those who are more popular. We also have a relatively homogenous workforce which places those of us in minority groups at a significant disadvantage.
Reiterating a previous response, the environment has become toxic and egos are rewarded. The 20% of us who do 80% of the work are overlooked and our contributions are downplayed because we are often not the loudest voices in the room. Favoritism and time in seat are valued more than impact.
