What do you like best about the leadership team?
I like that they are real people. They have vision and lead with authority, but are accessible and take the time to know what is going on in their departments.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
Unlimited time off. Granted, it's very busy here so it can be hard to take full advantage of, but it's there - and if I don't use it as much as I'd like, it's largely because I'm not thinking far enough in advance to plan for it.

Being paid at market value - a living wage for my area, even.

Some individuals are able to be promoted, whereas others are not, and there are not always clear paths upward. However, managers do care about employees and work is still valued.

Alkami is fair in compensation. We use a nationally-recognized salary survey to ensure that people are being paid fairly, and we have a lot of opportunity for growth.

I feel valued as an employee, and oftentimes empowered. Most leadership does a fantastic job of investing in their teammates, and if there's ever an instance where that is not the case, it's usually an individual instance and not the fault of the company as a whole.

What are some of the best things about your team?
My team is very tight knit and has each other's backs. We've been through the fire together, and ego rarely rears its ugly head. We celebrate each other's wins, and are there for each other when we need someone to vent to.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Most Alkamists are reall good people, and a pleasure to work with. That's what makes it jarring when occasionally running into people who don't have that team mindset. Ensuring we are hiring people who are a good fit for the culture would be a great step to take.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The people, and the culture. Unlike most companies I've been at, the culture actually springs from the employee experience and from those who move things forward in a positive manner. We aren't being dictated a wishlist of corporate speak and told that it represents the culture. Our culture is real.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
More focus on remote culture, less effort put towards trying to improve an onsite culture that no longer exists.

The work is fast-paced, which means a huge focus on results first. While this is important, long hours + fast pace = burnout. When managers work 10+ hours either the employees do the same, or they are seen as not carrying their load. Managers should lead by example by working normal hours.
